Sloopy’s is home to the Best Gourmet Pizza in the U.S.!

Sloopy’s captured the award as one of the “Best Pizza in the Midwest” at the International Pizza Challenge in Las Vegas, Nevada, in March 2016. Donned the Super Bowl of Pizza, pizzaiolo from all over the world flock to Sin City to throw down their skills. Sloopy’s Hibachi Pizza (chicken, shrimp, sautéed vegetables including broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, zucchini, onions, fried rice and an oyster/soy sauce combination and Japanese White Sauce (yum-yum sauce) then finished with sesame seeds). The pie was also voted the Best Pizza in America at the American Pizza Championship, held at the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Show in Orlando in 2012, earning a spot on the US Pizza Team and grabbed the top prize in the Pizza Pizzazz contest held the same year in conjunction with the North America Pizza & Ice Cream Show (NAPICS). During the same competition in the Traditional category, Sloopy’s notched an unprecedented double win – the first in the history of the competition. Our Meatball Supreme (Sloopy’s original Perfetto sauce, handmade sausage and meatballs, onions, mushrooms, mozzarella, cheddar and Gorgonzola cheeses) took top honors.

In February 2013, Sloopy’s took top honors once again for “Best Non-Traditional Pizza in the Midwest” at the  NAPICS competition with our Paige’s Delight pizza (grilled chicken, applewood bacon, onion, and mozzarella, then finished with fresh strawberries, cilantro, sweet balsamic reduction and sriracha). This time Sloopy’s bested 75 pizzerias from across the nation in the NAPICS Pizza Pizzazz competition. This was the first time in the history of the competition any pizzeria had won back to back years in the same category.

Since opening its’ doors 22 years ago, Sloopy’s Pizza has served only the same award-winning delicious pizza, using the best quality ingredients, including the freshest hand-cut vegetables, finest meats, and house made sauces and dressings. Sloopy’s tomato sauce (Perfetto) is the highest quality. Made from only grade-A tomatoes picked and packed within three hours off the vine, fresh in season and shipped from Modesto California. Only the best-tasting cheese is used on every pizza served. Sloopy’s uses 100% whole milk mozzarella cheese, freshly grated daily, exclusively.

Pizza lovers across the country travel endless miles to our Lakeside and Port Clinton locations. Our flagship store in Lakeside, Ohio, seats 100 people, offers carry out and delivery service to Lakeside, Marblehead, Johnson’s Island, Danbury Township and Catawba Island. In January of 2015, Sloopy’s opened a second location in downtown Port Clinton, Ohio, with seating for 12, carryout and delivery services to the Port Clinton area, Gypsum and Catawba Island areas.

New for 2017 is our sister company, Ohio BBQ Company. We will be featuring hand crafted cuts of meat slow smoked for up to 16 hours. New offerings include Brisket, St. Louis Style Ribs, and Pulled Pork. These mouth watering delights will have you coming back for more than just pizza!
